Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) is a charming Bollywood romantic comedy set in the small town of Bareilly. The story follows Bitti Mishra (Kriti Sanon), a free-spirited and independent young woman who refuses to conform to societal norms. After a disagreement with her parents about marriage, she stumbles upon a book titled Bareilly Ki Barfi, in which she sees herself reflected in the protagonist. Determined to find the book’s author, she seeks help from Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurrana), a local printing press owner.
Unbeknownst to Bitti, Chirag is the book’s real writer but has credited his timid friend Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkummar Rao) instead. As Bitti falls for the book’s ‘author,’ Chirag orchestrates a scheme to present Pritam as an undesirable suitor, hoping she will choose him instead. However, Pritam’s unexpected transformation into a bold and flamboyant personality complicates things, leading to humorous and heartwarming moments.
With brilliant performances, witty dialogues, and a refreshing take on love and friendship, Bareilly Ki Barfi is a delightful film that beautifully captures small-town charm while delivering a sweet and entertaining love story.
